Tyseley Energy Park is the UK’s first multi-fuel, open access, low and zero carbon fuel refuelling station, which opened to commercial fleet vehicles, public transport and private vehicles in 2021; as part of the Clear Air initiative for Birmingham.

The energy park is one of the five Energy Innovation Zones established by the West Midlands Combined Authority and is adjacent to the Tyseley Energy Waste plant, offering Hydrogen, Compressed Natural Gas, Biodiesel and Electrical Vehicle charging options. The unmanned facility is available 24/7 for refuelling with integrated pay at pump options that accept credit, debit and fuel card payments.

CCE were responsible for the Civil and Structural design, which included a sustainable drainage scheme and multi-fuel service ducts which included naturally vented channels for the Compressed Natural Gas fuel lines. The scheme also incorporated an industrial automated vehicle wash, which recycles the water to reduce water consumption and pollution.
