CCE prepared in conjunction with St Pauls Architects, a structural scheme for the complete refurbishment of the existing city gate lodge building. The overall scheme also included the refurbishment of no. 3 non listed building.

English Heritage were heavily involved with the project and significant approvals from them were required throughout certain aspect of the works. One of the main items was the re-use of the existing roof structure, which necessitated a detailed report to be written and the result being that the existing purlins and trusses were left in place, but a new roof structure had to be built around it to take the roof loadings.

The extent of CCE’s input included extended masonry repairs, structural steelwork and relevant reports etc; and numerous bespoke details were produced for this project in order to comply with English Heritage requirements.
