CCE were appointed to provide full Structural and Civil Engineering design for the project, which provides a bespoke facility with a mixture of offices, classrooms, break out and café spaces and ancillary facilities.
The main building is six-storeys high and occupies a prominent position on the campus site opposite Wolverhampton Wanderers FC stadium. The main façade includes three separate atria, large areas of glazing and complex masonry detailing to provide a high-quality building. A new bridge unit links the building to the existing adjacent business school. The steeply sloping site required two-storeys of basement with the front of the building entered at lower basement level.
Revit was used as the BIM design tool and to identify clashes and coordinate the design process between different disciplines. This was particularly useful for services/structure coordination on the extensive rooftop plant deck.
